welcome to the Good Talk Collective, where ideas meet & conversations thrive

Are you an involved leader at home, at work, or in the community?

Do you buy books, only to have them collect dust on your nightstand? Are you the kind of person that likes to hear what others think about a topic?

Perhaps you've been trying to find time, community or resources to lean into your leadership practice more. Do you wish you had a place to hang with others grappling with questions about how to show up in the world?

If you’re thinking YES, YES, YES! as you read these questions, Good Talk Collective is the place for you.

Our goal is to bring together people who are interested in building community and learning from one another. We meet every 3 months to connect around a current topic related to leadership.

  • learn

Walk away with our top learnings and insights from thought leaders relating to a current leadership topic (so that you don't have to!).

  • connect

Connect with others to discuss the content - and what it means for our relationships, homes, workplaces and communities.

  • discuss

Participate in a lively discussion where you have the space to clarify your own opinions and benefit from hearing others’ perspectives.

  • share

Relax in a space where you can share the challenges you are grappling with, and have a group of people to help you work through them.

We would call this a book club, but that would imply you need to read the books. We know the unique shame that comes with NOT having time to read the books - and we want to save you from that!

At Good Talk Collective, we read the books so you can focus on leading and making a difference.

Our collective is designed for leaders in the home, workplace or community who crave intellectual stimulation and connection but don't have time to research leadership thought leaders.

Sound like you? Scroll down to check out our upcoming events!

Come for the canapes.

Stay for the conversation.

the vibe

Think about conversations you’ve had with friends, coworkers or someone you just met - the kind of conversation where you walked away thinking “that was a good talk!”

THAT’S the feeling you will have at the end of this evening.

Lindsay and Shannon will share their learnings, challenge you to reflect and then set you up for a “good talk” (while sipping on a drink of your choice and nibbling on some appies).

It will feel like catching up with old friends, stretching your perspective and learning something new. All in 2 hours!

In a casual, light-hearted and supportive atmosphere, you will:

  • Receive insight from a variety of leadership thought leaders, without having to actually read, watch or listen to them (because you are BUSY!)

  • Connect with a like minded group of changemakers and community builders

  • Discuss how to apply topic insights to your leadership practice - whether it's in the home, workplace or community

  • After each session, you’ll receive a summary of our top leadership lessons related to the topic

We can’t wait to meet you!

    CO-FOUNDER

Books truly are my love language. I read compulsively. I also love to talk about what I've read with other people - to share ideas and insights, see things through another perspective and create new understandings to apply to my own life and leadership practice.

    More about me here.

  • Shannon Price

    CO-FOUNDER

When I get into a book that is where you will find me for the next 24 hours until I finish it. I am a quick reader and can’t wait to find someone who has read what I’ve read or at least wants to talk about it. I read to learn and grow - so I’m intentional in reading things that stretch my way of thinking, doing and being in this world.

    More about me here.

  • Yes! There’s ample parking behind Café Rista (located in the Westgrove Professional Building at 14213 - 103 Avenue NW). You access the parking lot from 103 Avenue NW. There’s also room to lock your bike up and lots of buses that go down Stony Plain Road and 142 Street NW - near West Block.

  • The investment for each event is $49. Your registration fee covers the venue, appetizers and a beverage of your choice (Beer? Wine? Coffee? Tea?). Any profits from ticket sales (we expect this will be over 50%) will be donated to The CHEW Project - an amazing organization that supports 2SLGBTQ+ youth and emerging adults facing multiple barriers.

We never want cost to be a barrier to learning and building community. If you want to attend and it isn't within your budget, Please contact us!

  • Everyone is welcome! Whether you are already a leader in your home, workplace or community; wanting to lean into a leadership practice; or curious what leadership is all about - this is the place for you. The only requirements are that you come with an open mind and heart, willing to talk with others about topics related to how we show up in the world. Our goal at the Good Talk Collective is to gather curious and compassionate humans in a safe (and brave) space to listen, learn, share and question.

  • While your registration fee is non-refundable, it can be transferred to a future session or gifted to someone else - just send their name to hello@lindsayhumber so that we can make sure they are on the list!

  • We’re both moms, so we totally get this. That said, we want you to think of this as a night-out… some time that is JUST for you. Space is limited, and the conversation will be lively so we’ve opted to keep this an adult-only event. To ensure all of our participants get to listen, learn and connect, we ask that you make alternate arrangements for any kiddos.

  • There will! Our vision is to host Good Talk events every three months. Follow our socials for up-to-date details on all upcoming events - you can find us on Instagram and LinkedIn - or sign up for our emails.

  • There’s a special kind of magic that happens when people connect over food, drink, and conversations. As this is a small event we have set costs and want everyone to share in the full experience. If you have dietary concerns, please let us know and we will do what we can to accommodate.

  • After each session, you’ll receive a digital copy of our top leadership lessons from each of the books that we discussed. That way you can easily share with others, and view the document on your devices.

  • Great question! We plan to have a variety of appetizers present for you to choose from. We also want to make sure that you’re able to enjoy your time with us - and we think food is an important part of building community. If you have an allergy or food restriction that you would like us to know about, please email Lindsay at hello@lindsayhumber.ca.

  • Yes! Cafe Rista is a fully accessible facility. Learn more here.
