welcome to the Good Talk Collective, where ideas meet & conversations thrive
Are you an involved leader at home, at work, or in the community?
Do you buy books, only to have them collect dust on your nightstand? Are you the kind of person that likes to hear what others think about a topic?
Perhaps you've been trying to find time, community or resources to lean into your leadership practice more. Do you wish you had a place to hang with others grappling with questions about how to show up in the world?
If you’re thinking YES, YES, YES! as you read these questions, Good Talk Collective is the place for you.
Our goal is to bring together people who are interested in building community and learning from one another. We meet every 3 months to connect around a current topic related to leadership.
-
learn
Walk away with our top learnings and insights from thought leaders relating to a current leadership topic (so that you don't have to do the research!).
-
connect
Connect with others to discuss the content - and what it means for our relationships, homes, workplaces and communities.
-
discuss
Participate in a lively discussion where you have the space to clarify your own opinions and benefit from hearing others’ perspectives.
-
share
Relax in a space where you can share the challenges you are grappling with, and have a group of people to help you work through them.
We would call this a book club, but that would imply you need to read the books. We know the unique shame that comes with NOT having time to read the books or listen to the podcasts - and we want to save you from that!
At Good Talk Collective, we do the research so you can focus on leading and making a difference.
Our collective is designed for leaders in the home, workplace or community who crave intellectual stimulation and connection but don't have time to research leadership thought leaders.
Sound like you? Scroll down to check out our upcoming events!
Come for the canapes.
Stay for the conversation.

The Power of Friendship
May 7, 2025 6:30 p.m.
Friendships shape our lives in ways we rarely stop to think about. They influence our well-being, our confidence, and how we navigate change. They help us feel seen, supported, and connected—but they can also be a source of frustration, heartache, and, let’s be honest, confusion.
At this Good Talk, we’re diving into the messy, beautiful, essential world of friendship—why it matters, how it impacts our well-being, and what we can do to cultivate stronger, more meaningful connections. Join us for this much-needed conversation!
$34 / person
Your ticket includes:
Practical insights on navigating friendship in leadership and life
Snacks, sweets and non-alcoholic drinks
Facilitated discussion and networking opportunities with other community leaders, movers and shakers
A set of conversation cards to support you when reflecting on friendship (on your own or in conversation).
the vibe
Think about conversations you’ve had with friends, coworkers or someone you just met - the kind of conversation where you walked away thinking “that was a good talk!”
That’s the feeling you will have at the end of this evening.
Lindsay and Shannon will share their learnings, challenge you to reflect and then set you up for a “good talk” (while sipping on a drink of your choice and nibbling on some appies).
It will feel like catching up with old friends, stretching your perspective and learning something new. All in 2 hours!
In a casual, light-hearted and supportive atmosphere, you will:
Receive insight from a variety of leadership thought leaders, without having to actually read, watch or listen to them (because you are BUSY!)
Connect with a group of changemakers and community builders
Discuss how to apply topic insights to your leadership practice - whether it's in the home, workplace or community
After each session, you’ll receive a set of question cards related to the topic - designed to support you in conversation or personal refection
We can’t wait to meet you!

Books truly are my love language. I read compulsively. I also love to talk about what I've read with other people - to share ideas and insights, see things through another perspective and create new understandings to apply to my own life and leadership practice.

When I get into a book that is where you will find me for the next 24 hours until I finish it. I am a quick reader and can’t wait to find someone who has read what I’ve read or at least wants to talk about it. I read to learn and grow - so I’m intentional in reading things that stretch my way of thinking, doing and being in this world.
More about me here.

Presence & Paying Attention
Rethinking Rest: Why Slowing Down Matters
For this Good Talk, we invite you to pause and reflect on rest—why it matters, how we access it, and what it offers our homes, workplaces, and communities. Drawing inspiration from The Nap Ministry's concept of 'rest as resistance' and the science-backed lessons from Burnout, we’ll explore how embracing rest can deprogram us from grind culture, build resilience, and help us show up more fully for ourselves and others. Join us for this much-needed conversation!
Moments of Awe: Cultivating Wonder in the Ordinary
In a world filled with routines and to-do lists, we invite you to pause and reconnect with a vital yet often forgotten aspect of life: wonder. Wonder and awe aren't just for children—these experiences shape how we see the world, spark creativity, and help us lead with more curiosity and joy. Join us as we dive into the science of wonder, why it’s so vital, and how we can invite more of it into our daily lives. Together, we'll explore what awe looks like in leadership, how it helps us show up more fully, and why it’s so often overlooked.

We’re both moms, so we totally get this. That said, we want you to think of this as a night-out… some time that is JUST for you. Space is limited, and the conversation will be lively so we’ve opted to keep this an adult-only event. To ensure all of our participants get to listen, learn and connect, we ask that you make alternate arrangements for any kiddos.

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when people connect over food, drink, and conversations. As this is a small event we have set costs and want everyone to share in the full experience. If you have dietary concerns, please let us know and we will do what we can to accommodate.
-
After each session, you’ll receive a digital copy of our top leadership lessons from each of the books that we discussed. That way you can easily share with others, and view the document on your devices.
-
Great question! We plan to have a variety of appetizers present for you to choose from. We also want to make sure that you’re able to enjoy your time with us - and we think food is an important part of building community. If you have an allergy or food restriction that you would like us to know about, please email Lindsay at hello@tiliaconsulting.ca.
